Understand the situation
Check for mismatched references, an uncertain terminal, missing collection instructions or an unavailable contact before dispatch. These are coordination gaps you can often resolve early. Keep one shared version of the container and destination details.
Plan the handoff
Vessel schedules, discharge, holds and terminal operations may change independently of road transport. Ask the responsible operator for the latest position and inform the transport coordinator. Do not promise a fixed delivery hour based only on the vessel’s estimated arrival.
Confirm the next step
At the destination, unavailable equipment or a closed gate can also interrupt the plan. Agree a realistic receiving window and a fallback contact. If the date changes, confirm the revised plan with all parties, including whoever arranges the empty return.
